How to respond to a crime

The question attached concerns your personal opinion on how to handle things when someone commits a crime against a member of your family. Even though this is supposed to be a personal answer, we can give you some ideas on what to say:

You can answer by saying that it is understandable when people take matters in their own hands. As a human, you can empathize with the pain and anger of another human whose loved ones were hurt and perhaps killed. You can move on to say that, however empathetic you are, you also know that responding to the situation by taking matters into your own hands would be wrong. Therefore, if it were to happen to you, you would trust justice to be done by letting authorities handle it.Explain that doing things yourself would be revenge and not justice. The climax of the monkey's paw is when the Whites are shaken by how their wish came true and filled with grief from losing their only son.

In the exposition, On a dark, cold night at the Laburnam Villa, the White family awaits a visitor. Mr. White and his son Herbert are playing chess while Mrs. White knits by the fire. Sergeant Major Morris arrives and regales the family with tales from his 21 years of traveling to vast and exotic places in his tenure as a soldier.

About the conflict, Mr. White reminds Morris of a story he was telling him recently regarding a strange monkey’s paw he acquired in India. It supposedly was bewitched by an old fakir to grant three separate men three wishes. Mr. White wants the paw, but Morris is reluctant, saying it causes trouble. Mrs. White persuades Mr. White to wish that Herbert was alive again. Mr. White finds the paw and makes the wish; suddenly, there is a quiet, persistent knocking at the door.

Who is the speaker? President Johnson

Answers

Answer:

ESSAY

President Lyndon B. Johnson was known for his ability to persuade and influence people's opinions. He had a keen understanding of the power of communication and used his platform as president to try to change people's minds on a variety of issues.

One of the most significant issues that Johnson tried to change people's minds about was civil rights. During his presidency in the 1960s, Johnson signed several landmark pieces of legislation, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. However, getting these bills passed was no easy feat. Johnson faced fierce opposition from some members of Congress, as well as from segments of the general public who were resistant to change.

To try to change people's minds on civil rights, Johnson used his powerful oratory skills to appeal to Americans' sense of justice and fairness. In a famous speech to Congress in 1965, Johnson said, "We shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." By using this language, Johnson was trying to frame the struggle for civil rights as a moral imperative, and he was trying to persuade Americans that it was their duty to support equal rights for all.

Another issue that Johnson tried to change people's minds about was the Vietnam War. Johnson had inherited the war from his predecessor, John F. Kennedy, and he initially believed that the conflict was necessary to contain the spread of communism. However, as the war dragged on and American casualties mounted, Johnson began to have doubts about the wisdom of U.S. involvement.

To try to change people's minds about the war, Johnson used his famous "Great Society" speech in 1964 to make the case that America needed to focus on domestic issues like poverty, education, and healthcare, rather than getting bogged down in foreign conflicts. He said, "We are not about to send American boys nine or ten thousand miles away from home to do what Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves." By framing the war as a distraction from more pressing domestic issues, Johnson was trying to persuade Americans that the conflict was not worth the cost in lives and resources.

In conclusion, President Lyndon B. Johnson was a master of persuasion who used his communication skills to try to change people's minds on some of the most pressing issues of his time. Whether it was civil rights or the Vietnam War, Johnson used his platform as president to appeal to Americans' sense of morality and common sense, in an effort to sway public opinion and bring about change.

I need a title for a topic that talks about technology, how it affects teens, and how to convince teens to use it in the right ways

Answers

Answer:

Use of Technology by Teenagers for Emotional Support

Explanation:

Technology has become an integral part of life for contemporary people. Since the use of technology by young individuals has become widespread, researchers and scholars began to explore the effect that technology has on teenagers’ life, to determine whether it harms them or serves as a source of emotional support. In her work, Turkle refers to modern teenagers as “tethered” because they are very connected to their mobile devices (429). Moreover, through the author’s research of the technology used by teenagers, Turkle concluded that young people are wired to their phones, they have to reply to messages and calls, or see new posts they were tagged in because otherwise, they feel unsettled. While this may be an example of the negative impact that smartphones have on teenagers, one should consider the aspect of emotional support. Due to the fact that teenagers continuously check their phones to reply to messages and phone calls, they have a better opportunity to communicate with peers when compared to previous generations. This can be a valuable source of emotional support, because these individuals can share their fears and anxieties, either with friends or other teenagers online. However, this creates a problem of separating one’s self from others, which is an integral part of a person’s development. According to Turkle, “intimacy without privacy reinvents what intimacy means. Separation, too, is being reinvented” (430). Therefore, it is possible that technology is transforming the different aspects of a person’s physiological development, changing the perceptions of intimacy and independence. In that case, technology becomes an essential source of help and support for young adults.

Hope it helped! :)

"Empowering Teens: Navigating Technology for a Healthy and Balanced Life"

"Empowering Teens" suggests that the topic is focused on helping young people develop the skills and knowledge they need to make informed decisions about technology use. By using the word "empowering," the title implies that the goal is to encourage teens to take control of their relationship with technology, rather than feeling powerless or overwhelmed by it.

"Navigating Technology" suggests that the topic is focused on helping teens understand and manage the complexities of modern technology. The word "navigating" implies that technology is something that can be difficult to navigate, but that with guidance and support, it is possible to find a path through it.

"for a Healthy and Balanced Life" suggests that the topic is focused on helping teens use technology in a way that contributes to their overall well-being, rather than detracting from it. The phrase "healthy and balanced life" implies that the goal is not to eliminate technology use entirely, but rather to find a way to integrate it into a larger, more balanced approach to life.

Overall, the title "Empowering Teens: Navigating Technology for a Healthy and Balanced Life" captures the key themes of the topic in a concise and compelling way, while also suggesting a positive, proactive approach to the subject matter.

What Is It That You Really Need?

Sometimes it seems as if we never get what we want. But sometimes when we do get what we want, we realize that it’s not what we really want. That’s because our wants don’t always match our needs. The solution to this problem is to try to understand and satisfy our real needs.

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and human and animal behavior. A lot of psychological research has been done about human needs and how they should be satisfied. Studies have shown that humans have basic needs that must be consistently met. Studies have also shown that there is an order of importance in which these needs must be satisfied. An individual’s basic functional needs must be satisfied before he or she can go on and meet other more creative and self-fulfilling needs.

Abraham Harold Maslow (1908–1970) was an important psychologist who became famous for his studies regarding human needs and wants. He wrote two major works, Motivation and Personality and Toward a Psychology of Being. Maslow stressed that basic needs must first be satisfied before a person is able to be creative or function independently. He created his famous hierarchy of needs theory, which separates human needs into five layers. Each layer in the hierarchy must be satisfied before a person can proceed to the next layer. The five layers of human needs, according to Maslow, are as follows:

The physiological needs

The safety and security needs

The love and belonging needs

The esteem needs

Self-actualization

The Physiological Needs

The physiological needs include the basic requirements for physical survival, such as oxygen, water, protein, salt, sugar, minerals, and vitamins. Other physiological needs include a proper body temperature and pH balance, physical activity, a lack of pain, and adequate sleep.

The Safety and Security Needs

These needs become relevant only after the physiological needs are largely satisfied. The person will then become increasingly interested in such things as being safe and protected and having a stable life. He or she might also begin to need structure and order.

The Love and Belonging Needs

Once a person feels reasonably secure in life and has his or her basic bodily needs satisfied, he or she wants to be a part of a community or group, to have friends, and to be in loving and caring relationships.

The Esteem Needs

This level of needs has two components. The first covers a person’s needs to be respected by others and achieve fame, attention, and dignity. The second component of this level of needs covers a person’s needs for self-respect, confidence, independence, and freedom.

Self-Actualization

The highest level is different from the other levels in a crucial way. All the previous levels discuss needs that need to be satisfied; once they are satisfied, we no longer think about them. If we feel well fed, safe, appreciated, and confident, we don’t think about those needs anymore. But on the complex level of self-actualization, a person continues to feel this need even after he or she has achieved it. This need drives us to be the most complete people we can—to be the best that we can be.

The next time you are feeling as if something is missing from your life, think about Maslow and his theory of needs. Have you really satisfied the basic needs before trying to satisfy the higher levels of needs? Maybe you need to redefine what you are really searching for.
