Billy decided that he would walk on and take a look at The Bell and Dragon before making up his mind. He turned to go. He was in the act of stepping back and turning away from the window when all at once his eye was caught and held in the most peculiar manner by the small notice that was there. BED AND BREAKFAST, it said. BED AND BREAKFAST, BED AND BREAKFAST, BED AND BREAKFAST.

Answers

Answer: The repetition of "Bed and Breakfast" in the passage may have been done by the author to emphasize the significance of the sign and to draw the reader's attention to it. The repetition creates a sense of urgency and importance to the message that the sign conveys.

The manipulation of time, by slowing it down, may have been used by the author to increase suspense and create a dramatic effect. By slowing down time, the author prolongs the moment of tension and heightens the reader's curiosity about what Billy is looking at. OC. Aunty Em is lying.
OD. Annabeth needs to brush up on her Greek mythology.

Answers

Option A. Auntie Em's tale is familiar to Annabeth. Annabeth and Grover recognise Aunty Em as Medusa, but Percy doesn't see the problem with it. You will turn to stone if you look at Medusa since she has snakes for hair.

Percy is uncomfortably exhausted. Annabeth is concerned because she senses something is wrong. Grover doubts that a statue of his uncle is actually him. Auntie Em is unreliable in Percy's opinion. Auntie Em, in Percy's opinion, can assist them in travelling to Los Angeles. He came to the realisation that the odd woman on the observation deck is actually Echidna, the Mother of Monsters, and that her dog is actually a lethal Chimera. In its attempt to spew fire towards Percy, the Chimera instead hits the Arch.

Read and write the answer to the given question below...

People have been trying for centuries to prove that aliens exist. But no one has yet been able to do it. Therefore, aliens do not exist. { highlight text = herefore, aliens do not exist. }

1. Which of the following logical fallacies does the author commit upon concluding that "Aliens do not exist"?

a) Begging the question, present in an argument in which the arguer asks his or her opponent to simply accept a conclusion absent any real evidence; the argument either relies on a premise that says the same thing as the conclusion (commonly referred to as “being circular” or “circular reasoning”) or simply ignores an important (but questionable) assumption that the argument rests on.

b) Appeal to ignorance, present in an argument in which the arguer relies on the supposition that, due to a lack of conclusive evidence, the conclusion of an argument should be accepted.

c) Ad populum, present in an argument in which the arguer takes advantage of the desire most people have to be liked and to fit in with others, using that desire to try to get the audience to accept his or her argument.

d) False dichotomy, present in an argument in which the arguer makes it look as though the answer to a question admits of only two alternatives (one that is logical and one that is illogical), when, in reality, there are multiple undisclosed options available.

e) Appeal to Fear, present in an argument in which the arguer relies on the instillation of fear in the opponent, rather than the presentation of evidence, to support a claim. (Also known as a “scare tactic”.)

Answers

Answer:

b) Appeal to ignorance, present in an argument in which the arguer relies on the supposition that, due to a lack of conclusive evidence, the conclusion of an argument should be accepted.

Explanation:

The logical fallacy of appeal to ignorance is when an argument's conclusion is based on the absence of any evidence proving against it. In other words, an appeal to ignorance is when an arguer relies on the supposition that the lack of any evidence proving otherwise makes his conclusion acceptable and right.

In the given case of the existence of aliens, the speaker decides that "[since] no one has yet been able to [prove that aliens exist]", therefore, it must be true and accepted that "aliens do not exist." This argument follows the logical fallacy of an appeal to ignorance.

Thus, the correct answer is option b.

Read the passage from Animal Farm.

Within a few weeks Snowball's plans for the windmill were fully worked out. The mechanical details came mostly from three books which had belonged to Mr. Jones—"One Thousand Useful Things to Do About the House," "Every Man His Own Bricklayer," and "Electricity for Beginners." Snowball used as his study a shed which had once been used for incubators and had a smooth wooden floor, suitable for drawing on. He was closeted there for hours at a time. With his books held open by a stone, and with a piece of chalk gripped between the knuckles of his trotter, he would move rapidly to and fro, drawing in line after line and uttering little whimpers of excitement. Gradually the plans grew into a complicated mass of cranks and cog-wheels, covering more than half the floor, which the other animals found completely unintelligible but very impressive. All of them came to look at Snowball's drawings at least once a day. Even the hens and ducks came, and were at pains not to tread on the chalk marks. Only Napoleon held aloof. He had declared himself against the windmill from the start. One day, however, he arrived unexpectedly to examine the plans. He walked heavily round the shed, looked closely at every detail of the plans and snuffed at them once or twice, then stood for a little while contemplating them out of the corner of his eye; then suddenly he lifted his leg, urinated over the plans, and walked out without uttering a word.

What is most likely Orwell's purpose for writing this passage?

a descriptive essay about the house i grew up

Answers

Answer:

Most of the houses were made of brick and cement just like my home. At the end or the road that led out of the town in to the deep bush in the mountains was my house. Because the road also led directly in to the town, it was busy with people walking, riding their bikes and burros, and an old car now and then.

As soon as you turned in to my street, your eyes would be immediately swayed towards my house, not because it was beautiful but because of the huge metal door that opened in to what I consider the living room, this was the main entrance.

The door was the color of rust, it had beautiful designs made of twisted metal. It looked like a door that you would find at the entrance of an old cemetery or an old style mansion. The house was built on a high platform because when the rainy season started, the river next to the empty lot overflowed in to the roads and took everything on its path. A cement ramp was built right in front of the door, used to drive a car in to the house and momentarily convert the living room in to a garage. The house was built with brick and cement, it had four bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and, a back yard.

It was painted white and looked as if it was unfinished like many houses looked in town. On the outside of the house, there was a young lemon tree that yellowed with fruit and gave away a sweet aroma. Next to the tree there were some flower pots and wood that we used to fuel a mud and brick stove that we built in the back yard to use when we ran out of gas. Large cracks ran from corner to corner on the uneven walls of the house. Next to the big door was a door that led in to one of the bedrooms, this room was converted in to a small store, we sold canned and dry food and drinks, an unpainted wooden counter reeted the customers. Our small store always smelled as if you were walking in to a bakery because of the freshly made bread delivered every morning by the town’s baker. Across from the store was my bedroom which I shared with all of my sisters and mother. We all slept on a king-size bed even though there were two other queen beds in the bedroom. An old wooden armoire was used as a TV stand, the small TV was only one square foot, it was hard to see but we lived with it because we were not aware that there was any better.

On the wall that connected to the boys bedroom was a huge square shaped hole were a window was missing, this was used by all my siblings as a short cut in to each other’s bedrooms. We often got in trouble for jumping over the window. The fourth room was always kept locked, it was used as a guest room. We never bothered with it because it appeared to be haunted, we often heard chatter and laughter coming from this room, and it was reason enough to keep away. To this day I still wander if what took place there was real.

Answer:

I don't know if you're asking us how difficult it would be or if this is an actual question for a school assignment, but yeah. A lot of communication is conveyed through facial expressions, body language, eye contact, gestures, and more, so to only communicate by talking would be pretty challenging. Luckily, we'd still be able to fluctuate our tone of voice, but having a blank, emotionless face without us being able to move our shoulders or use our hands would take time getting used to.

The twelve stages of the hero's journey are depicted in a chart below paragraph 2, with the Initiation as the first stage. As the first stage of the procedure, this proves that the Initiation marks the start of the hero's journey.

The Hero's Initiation occurs when they are called to adventure or face another type of difficulty that forces them to leave their normal surroundings. The hero also encounters mentors, allies, or assistants during the Initiation who will support them on their adventure.
