write a letter to the Minister of Transport suggesting two ways of improving public transport system in our country not less than 250 words

Answers

The letter to the Minister of Transport suggesting two ways of improving public transport system in our country is given below.

How to write the letter

Dear Minister of Transport,

As a concerned citizen of this country, I am writing to suggest two ways that could help improve the public transport system in our nation. I believe that by implementing these solutions, we could provide a better and more efficient transportation service to the citizens.

Firstly, I propose the introduction of a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in major cities. BRT is a bus-based mass transit system that offers fast, comfortable, and cost-effective transportation. BRT lanes are exclusive to buses, which enables them to bypass traffic congestion, thus reducing travel time for passengers. In addition, BRT buses run frequently, so it would minimize waiting time for commuters. Implementing BRT will encourage more people to use public transport, resulting in fewer cars on the road, less traffic congestion, and less pollution.

Secondly, I suggest that the government should invest in developing an integrated public transport system. This would involve creating a network that includes buses, trains, trams, and other modes of public transport. The idea is to make it easy for commuters to move from one mode of transportation to another, without the hassle of buying a new ticket or queuing for another mode of transport. This would encourage more people to use public transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and create a more sustainable environment.

In conclusion, I believe that implementing a BRT system and an integrated public transport network would be beneficial to our society.

Your faithfully,

John

Death is a natural and uneventful part of life is the sentence best describes the central idea of “I heard a fly buzz when I died”. Hence, option C is correct.

What defines a natural death?

An internal problem, such as cancer, heart disease, or diabetes that cause the body to shut down results in a “natural” death if no outside influence led to the demise.

There was no external factor, such as a traumatic injury, that contributed to the death when it occurred spontaneously and from natural causes as opposed to accidents or violence. The religion of Hinduism forbids any kind of animal sacrifice.

The majority of people who have been with loved ones as they died, especially with hospice support, are aware that death is a very usual, predictable, natural, beautifully well-orchestrated bodily and spiritual event.

Thus, option C is correct.

In both Night and Maus, the authors depict the selection process as a systematic means of segregating and categorizing Jews, resulting in the extermination of many. The texts reveal the horrifying and lethal nature of this process during the Holocaust.

Claim: In the Night and Maus novels, the author describes the selection process as a systematic process of separation and classification of the Jews, often leading to death. The authors suggest that the selection process is the first step towards the extermination of the Jews in the concentration camps.Description of the selection process in each text:In Night, the selection process is a systematic process that divides Jews into two groups: those who can work and those who are too weak. The stronger ones are sent to the barracks to work, while the weaker ones, including children and the elderly, are sent to the crematorium. As Elie Wiesel writes, “We were not afraid of death; we were, however, afraid of the selection” (Wiesel 30). This quote demonstrates that the selection process is so feared by the Jews that they consider it a worse fate than death. In Maus, the selection process is described as a medical examination where the Jews are examined and classified according to their fitness for work. The fit ones are sent to work while the weaker ones are sent to the gas chamber. For example, Vladek's father and brother were selected for the gas chambers during their selection process. This is evidenced when Vladek says, "An SS man came up to them and said, 'You go left, and you go right'" (Spiegelman 79). Project: Truth and Propaganda

Not all propaganda is bad. Propaganda gets a negative representation. Remember, though, the reason propaganda gets its own category of persuasion. It's because propaganda is meant to further the cause of the person or group using it. In a lot of cases, that can be negative. Sometimes, it's positive or doesn't matter either way.

You have to evaluate every piece of propaganda and ask questions about it before you can determine if it's bad or good. Ask yourself, even if this is propaganda, is it true? The answer is not always clear-cut, so you have to do your best to evaluate each message! In this project, you'll practice doing just that.

Objectives

Assess the relationship between propaganda techniques and the truthfulness of a message.
Instructions:

Follow the directions for the activity below. It will help you to explore the relationship between truth, propaganda, and people's opinions.

Step 1:

Ask 10 people the following questions:

Do you believe in large apelike animals such as Bigfoot?

Why or why not?

If you answered that you do not believed in Bigfoot, what would make you believe that Bigfoot exists?
Step 2: Record their answers.

Step 3: Organize your data.

Step 4: Write a paper of at least 250 words about people's willingness to believe in sensational subjects. Did people who believed in Bigfoot more willing to answer your questions? Or was it the opposite? Explain the reasons why people believe or did not believe in Bigfoot.

Step 5: Spell check and proofread before submitting.

Answers

Truth and Propaganda plays a significant role in shaping people's beliefs and influencing their opinions. People's willingness to believe in sensational subjects like Bigfoot is influenced by a combination of personal biases, exposure to propaganda, critical thinking abilities, and the burden of proof.

People's willingness to believe in sensational subjects:

In the course of conducting interviews with 10 individuals regarding their beliefs in large apelike creatures like Bigfoot, it became evident that people's willingness to believe in sensational subjects varied significantly. While some individuals expressed belief in the existence of Bigfoot, others were more skeptical. The reasons behind these beliefs were multifaceted and shed light on the complex nature of human perception and the influence of propaganda techniques.

Among the participants, those who believed in Bigfoot tended to be more willing to answer the questions. This can be attributed to the psychological phenomenon known as confirmation bias, where individuals seek information that aligns with their preexisting beliefs. When confronted with questions about Bigfoot, believers were more inclined to engage in the discussion, potentially hoping to find validation for their existing beliefs.

On the other hand, individuals who did not believe in Bigfoot displayed a higher level of skepticism and were less willing to entertain the topic. For them, the burden of proof to establish the existence of such a creature was considerably higher. Their skepticism could be attributed to critical thinking skills, scientific reasoning, or a lack of exposure to persuasive propaganda surrounding Bigfoot.

Propaganda plays a significant role in shaping people's beliefs and influencing their opinions. The concept of Bigfoot has been widely sensationalized through various propaganda techniques, such as anecdotes, eyewitness testimonies, and doctored evidence. These techniques can manipulate emotions and sway individuals towards either belief or skepticism. Those who fell into the believer category may have been exposed to persuasive propaganda that reinforced their conviction, while skeptics may have encountered counter-propaganda or a lack of compelling evidence.

Overall, people's willingness to believe in sensational subjects like Bigfoot is influenced by a combination of personal biases, exposure to propaganda, critical thinking abilities, and the burden of proof. Understanding these factors can help evaluate the relationship between propaganda techniques and the truthfulness of a message. It is essential to critically evaluate information, ask relevant questions, and consider the available evidence when forming beliefs about extraordinary claims like the existence of large apelike creatures.

In at least 200 words, write a summary of the poem "Sestina.
"In the second part of this question, Include at least two images that support your summary.

Answers

Answer:

"Sestina" is a complex poem written by Elizabeth Bishop that consists of six sestets followed by a final tercet. The poem is structured in a very specific way, with each sestet ending with one of six repeating words that are then used to begin each line of the following sestet. The poem explores themes of loss, memory, and the passage of time through the speaker's reflections on a childhood experience of watching a grandmother make lace.

Through the use of vivid imagery and sensory details, Bishop creates a poignant and nostalgic atmosphere. The speaker describes the intricate process of lace-making, with its delicate patterns and slow, deliberate movements, as well as the sights, sounds, and smells of the grandmother's kitchen. However, as the poem progresses, it becomes clear that the speaker is not just describing a fond memory but is also grappling with the painful realization of the impermanence of life and the inevitability of loss.

One of the most striking images in the poem is the description of the "grandmother's things" in the final stanza. The speaker notes how these objects, once treasured and used by the grandmother, are now left behind, gathering dust and falling apart. This image emphasizes the idea of loss and the passing of time, as well as the transient nature of material possessions.

Another powerful image is the description of the "little shells" in the third stanza. The speaker recalls how the grandmother used to collect these shells on the beach and use them to weight down the lace bobbins. However, now the shells are simply scattered on the windowsill, forgotten and abandoned. This image speaks to the theme of memory and how even the most cherished objects can lose their meaning and significance over time.

Overall, "Sestina" is a complex and evocative poem that skillfully combines intricate form with rich and meaningful imagery to explore themes of loss, memory, and the passage of time.

shorter version (to make it more believable):

In "Sestina," Elizabeth Bishop uses a specific form consisting of six sestets and a final tercet to explore themes of loss, memory, and the passage of time through a childhood memory of watching her grandmother make lace. The poem's structure relies on six repeating words that end each sestet and begin the following one. Bishop uses vivid imagery and sensory details to create a nostalgic atmosphere as the speaker reflects on the intricate process of lace-making and the sights, sounds, and smells of the grandmother's kitchen. However, as the poem progresses, the speaker grapples with the painful realization of the impermanence of life and the inevitability of loss. One of the most striking images in the poem is the description of the grandmother's forgotten possessions, which emphasizes the transient nature of material possessions. Another powerful image is the "little shells" that the grandmother used to collect and now lie scattered on the windowsill, speaking to the theme of memory and the loss of significance over time. Overall, "Sestina" is a poignant and evocative poem that skillfully combines form and imagery to explore complex themes.

"Sestina" is an intricate poem by Elizabeth Bishop that revolves around a unique poetic form called sexina. The sestina is a complex verse that uses the last six words in a specific pattern of six stanzas and a final triple. In the poem, Bishop uses the sestina form to explore themes of loss, memory, and the passage of time.

The poem tells the story of a grandmother and young grandchild sitting together in a house by the sea, a grandmother knitting and her grandson playing with toys. As they sit together, the child notices the light and the changing color of the sea, while the grandmother recalls memories from her life, including the time she spent with her lover today. died.

As the poem goes on, attention turns to the light and changing colors of the sea, becoming a metaphor for the passage of time and the inevitability of change. The memory of a lover's grandmother also emphasizes the theme of loss and the idea that nothing in life is permanent.

Two images to support this summary are knitting needles and the toy the child is playing with. The knitting needles symbolize the grandmother's sense of continuity and her desire to create something permanent. Children's toys, on the other hand, represent the brevity of childhood and the idea that even the most precious things in life are fleeting.

Overall, "Sestina" is a powerful meditation on the passage of time, loss, and memory, and demonstrates Elizabeth Bishop's skill in using form and structure to communicate ideas. and complex emotions.

The principal object, then, which I proposed to myself in these poems was to choose incidents and situations from common life, and to relate or describe them throughout, as far as was possible, in a selection of language really used by men; … Low and rustic life was generally chosen, because in that condition, the essential passions of the heart find a better soil in which they can attain their maturity, are less under restraint, and speak a plainer and more emphatic language; because in that condition of life our elementary feelings co-exist in a state of greater simplicity, and, consequently, may be more accurately contemplated, and more forcibly communicated; because the manners of rural life germinate from those elementary feelings; and, from the necessary character of rural occupations, are more easily comprehended; and are more durable; and, lastly, because in that conditions the passions of men are incorporated with the beautiful and permanent forms of nature.

In “Elephant Intelligence,” Brooke Quincy reports that scientists have just learned that elephants can work out problems in a human way. To figure this out, they used a seven-year-old Asian elephant from Washington DC’s National Zoo. The scientists tempted this elephant, named Kandula, with a piece of fruit that they placed high up in a tree. Because Kandula could not reach up and grab it, he had to find another way to get it. Kandula thought about the problem for a while, eventually deciding to stand on a plastic cube that was located inside his cage. Scientists tried this experiment multiple times, and in another trial, Kandula used a tractor tire to achieve the extra height he needed to reach the fruit. The term that scientists use for Kandula’s problem-solving technique is “spontaneous insight.” Humans practice spontaneous insight when they think about and solve a problem on the first try, without having to try many different solutions. Scientists tried this same experiment on two other elephants, but they both failed, probably because they were a lot older than Kandula. It is also possible that Kandula is just extremely smart for an elephant (77).

excerpt from "Plays and Players"

Interview with Robert G. Ingersoll

New York Dramatic Mirror, December 26, 1891

Question: What place does the theatre hold among the arts?

Answer: Nearly all the arts unite in the theatre, and it is the result of the best, the highest, the most artistic, that man can do.

In the first place, there must be the dramatic poet. Dramatic poetry is the subtlest, profoundest, the most intellectual, the most passionate and artistic of all. Then the stage must be prepared, and there is work for the architect, the painter and sculptor. Then the actors appear, and they must be gifted with imagination, with a high order of intelligence; they must have sympathies quick and deep, natures capable of the greatest emotion, dominated by passion. They must have impressive presence, and all that is manly should meet and unite in the actor; all that is womanly, tender, intense and admirable should be lavishly bestowed on the actress. In addition to all this, actors should have the art of being natural.

Let me explain what I mean by being natural. When I say that an actor is natural, I mean that he appears to act in accordance with his ideal, in accordance with his nature, and that he is not an imitator or a copyist—that he is not made up of shreds and patches taken from others, but that all he does flows from interior fountains and is consistent with his own nature, all having in a marked degree the highest characteristics of the man. That is what I mean by being natural.

The great actor must be acquainted with the heart, must know the motives, ends, objects and desires that control the thoughts and acts of men. He must be familiar with many people, including the lowest and the highest, so that he may give to others, clothed with flesh and blood, the characters born of the poet's brain. The great actor must know the relations that exist between passion and voice, gesture and emphasis, expression and pose. He must speak not only with his voice, but with his body. The great actor must be master of many arts.

Then comes the musician. The theatre has always been the home of music, and this music must be appropriate; must, or should, express or supplement what happens on the stage; should furnish rest and balm for minds overwrought with tragic deeds. To produce a great play, and put it worthily upon the stage, involves most arts, many sciences and nearly all that is artistic, poetic and dramatic in the mind of man.

Question: Should the drama teach lessons and discuss social problems, or should it give simply intellectual pleasure and furnish amusement?

Answer: Every great play teaches many lessons and touches nearly all social problems. But the great play does this by indirection. Every beautiful thought is a teacher; every noble line speaks to the brain and heart. Beauty, proportion, melody suggest moral beauty, proportion in conduct and melody in life. In a great play the relations of the various characters, their objects, the means adopted for their accomplishment, must suggest, and in a certain sense solve or throw light on many social problems, so that the drama teaches lessons, discusses social problems and gives intellectual pleasure.

The stage should not be dogmatic; neither should its object be directly to enforce a moral. The great thing for the drama to do, and the great thing it has done, and is doing, is to cultivate the imagination. This is of the utmost importance. The civilization of man depends upon the development, not only of the intellect, but of the imagination. Most crimes of violence are committed by people who are destitute of imagination. People without imagination make most of the cruel and infamous creeds. They were the persecutors and destroyers of their fellow-men. By cultivating the imagination, the stage becomes one of the greatest teachers. It produces the climate in which the better feelings grow; it is the home of the ideal. All beautiful things tend to the civilization of man. The great statues plead for proportion in life, the great symphonies suggest the melody of conduct, and the great plays cultivate the heart and brain.

Answer:

The quotation from the interview that offers details that best support Ingersoll's belief that many art disciplines "unite in the theatre" is:

"Then the stage must be prepared, and there is work for the architect, the painter and sculptor."

Explanation:

According to what Ingersoll said in this interview, theater holds a special place among the arts precisely because it is capable of uniting several art disciplines. He goes on to explain there is work for the poet, the architect, the painter, the sculptor, the actors, the musicians. All of those people, and more, are necessary to make a good play, to properly build the world that will engage and entertain the audience. Theater involves the senses, feelings and emotions of the audience. To make it a memorable experience, people who specialize in different areas are necessary. Think of the set, the costumes, the script.

Having that in mind, we can choose the following quotation as the answer:

"Then the stage must be prepared, and there is work for the architect, the painter and sculptor."
