In mathematics, an ellipse is a plane curve surrounding two focal points, such that for all points on the curve, the sum of the two distances to the focal points is a constant. As such, it generalizes a circle, which is the special type of ellipse in which the two focal points are the same.

In an electrical wire, if instead of copper, plastic wire is used. Would it conduct electricity?Justify your answer.

Answers

Answer:

No, a plastic wire would not conduct electricity. This is because plastic is an insulator that does not allow electric current to flow through it. In a wire, electrical conductivity is provided by the movement of charged particles - typically, electrons. Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity because it has a high number of free electrons that are not bound to atoms and can move through the wire very easily. However, in a plastic wire, the tightly bound electrons of its atoms do not allow for the free flow of charges, thus preventing the passage of electric current.

It is said that the Earth's core is about the size of the United states.

The initial water volume in this container was 10.0 mL. When the key was submerged, 3 volumes of displaced water were collected: 0.7 mL, 0.8 mL, and 0.9 mL. What is the volume of the key?
How did you find the volume?

Answers

The volume of the key is 0.8 mL.

Volume of objects using sinker method

An object that floats on water will displace its own volume. In the same vein, an object that sinks in water will displace its own volume.

Thus, in order to find the volume of an object that sinks in water, measure the volume of water that it displaces.

In this case, the water displaced by the key was measured 3 times. The average of the 3 readings will give the volume of the key.

Volume of the key = 0.7 + 0.8 + 0.9/3 = 0.8 mL

Identify two characteristics shared among transverse waves, longitudinal waves, and surface waves.

Answers

Answer: For transverse waves, the waves move in perpendicular direction to the source of vibration.

For longitudinal waves, the waves move in parallel direction to the source of vibration .

They are similar within the sense that energy is transferred within the kind of waves.

Explanation:

The shared characteristics between traverse, longitudinal and surface waves include :

Traverse, longitudinal and surface waves are all mechanical waves

They only transport energy without transporting matter.

Mechanical waves are simply waves which requires a material medium to propagate. They include longitudinal, surface and traverse waves.

Also, all three waves transfer energy through a medium without the transfer of materials or matter in the medium.

Therefore, all three waves are mechanical waves and do not transfer matter.

What physical property of mercury makes it best suited for use in a thermometer

Answers

Answer:

High coefficient of expansion

Explanation:

It is only mercury that is in liquid form at room temperature. It works on the principle of thermal expansion, it expands when heated and contracts when cooled. The very minute change can be notable by the use of mercury in the thermometer. So this property of the thermometer makes it suitable for measuring temperatures.

Hey Lenny lately I’ve been having a rough time in the water cycle. It all started when I was chilling in my favorite location the “glaciars” and suddenly the sun turned me into liquid form. Next thing I know I am hurdling down a river straight into a massive lake. Personally this is my least favorite stage of the water cycle because of kids and bacteria that lurk in the water, very scary things. I didn’t stop at the lake very long, and instead sunk into the soil in a process called collection so I could become ground water. Underground reservoir’s are much more peaceful then lakes and I wanted to stay there. However I was forced up a water well pump shortly after and sent through a long tube. Me and couple of the friends I met on the way were all dispersed over a giant grass feild. Many molecules in the group were captured by the hostile plants but I escaped through the means of evaporation. Currently I have condensed into cloud form and I am roaming the skies looking for you, when you get this let me know and I’ll percipitate in your area! In an exothermic reaction, chemical energy is converted to _____.

1.thermal
2. mechanical

Answers

Thermal
Because exothermic is having to do with energy

The chemical reactions are generally of many types. The exothermic and endothermic reactions are important among them. In an exothermic reaction the chemical energy is converted to thermal energy. The correct option is 1.

What is exothermic reaction?

The chemical reactions which proceed with the evolution of heat energy are defined as the exothermic reactions. The chemical reactions which proceed with the absorption of heat energy are called endothermic reactions.

In an exothermic reaction, system loses heat to surroundings. Since heat is given out in exothermic reactions, the enthalpy of the products will be less than that of the reactants.

In exothermic reaction, q will be negative and the enthalpy change will be also negative. In this reaction  chemical bonds are broken and new bonds are formed. The chemical energy is converted to kinetic energy which is released as heat.

Thus exothermic reaction releases thermal energy.
